Türkiye Innovation Week Manifesto:

Sustainable Motivation

As Türkiye Innovation Week, we focus on the motivation levels of individuals and organizations through a human-centered perspective around the “Sustainable Motivation” manifesto. The event aims to combine motivation and sustainability, exploring ways to develop new perspectives in people, culture, and business models. Throughout the event, we emphasize sustainable strategies that boost motivation, innovative thinking methods, and cultural approaches that promote lasting success.

For 11 years, we have continued to be a motivator in the innovation ecosystem, proudly implementing 14 innovation activity programs to contribute to building a fairer, more sustainable, and more inspiring future.

Innovation Activity Programs

Under the Innovation Partner Countries program, the aim is to promote and support innovation, share knowledge, experience, and resources in the field of innovation, and develop new products, technologies, and business processes. International cooperation meetings are held to achieve these goals.

The program, initiated by the Türkiye Exporters Assembly to encourage innovation globally and increase international cooperation, organizes meetings with the consulates of countries ranked high in the Global Innovation Index, aiming to ensure the coordination of innovation processes and facilitate the sharing of information and resources between different countries.

The InoSuit Program, launched by the Türkiye Exporters Assembly to provide mentorship support suitable for companies' innovation competence, aims to sustainably increase innovation management competence, establish and strengthen innovation management infrastructure, and design and implement corporate innovation systems suitable for each institution's goals, structure, and needs.

Since 2016, the InoSuit Program has been developed with the experiences, knowledge, and efforts of mentors and the gains of companies. Considering export potential, focus on value-added products, and innovation capacity, the program was restructured into four tracks in 2021: InoSuit Preparation, General InoSuit, Value-Added Focused InoSuit, and InoSuit Export Champions. A panel will be held where best practices in Corporate Innovation Management will be shared and discussed with the participation of all companies and mentors.

Since 2015, TİM-TEB Startup Houses have been operating in 7 different cities, including Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Denizli, Gaziantep, Bursa, and Mersin. These houses guide the ecosystem with unique programs in the incubation, acceleration, and growth stages, ensuring the sustainability and rapid growth of established technology companies. Over 2000 technology-focused entrepreneurs have been supported to date.

Organized by the Türkiye Exporters Assembly together with TİM-TEB Startup Houses, the S2C-Startup to Corporate event is a support program designed to contribute to the development of Turkey's entrepreneurship ecosystem. The event offers entrepreneurs the opportunity to present themselves and develop their relationships with corporate companies. At the meeting held on July 1, 2024, 34 technology entrepreneurs met with 14 exporting companies and conducted nearly 80 B2B meetings, focusing on innovative technologies such as payment systems, material technologies, sustainability-related innovations, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and health technologies.

The Global Innovation Index, published by the World Intellectual Property Organization since 2007, compares the innovation performance of 132 countries. Turkey has risen 12 ranks in the last four years, reaching 39th place. Under the responsibility of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and coordinated by the Türkiye Exporters Assembly, efforts to improve Turkey's position in the Global Innovation Index include examining and analyzing best practices and experiences from the top 20 countries.

The MasterClass: Innovation Dialogues program, held as part of Türkiye Innovation Week and planned to continue throughout the year, offers an interactive experience that encourages thinking, learning, and sharing creative ideas. Each MasterClass, where every aspect of innovation is discussed in depth, consists of interactive sessions led by leading experts and experienced entrepreneurs. The program offers the opportunity to be part of a community shaping the future of innovation, aiming to discover future opportunities and create a grassroots innovation culture.

InovaLİG, Turkey's first innovation development program organized by the Türkiye Exporters Assembly, aims to support innovation-driven export growth, increase innovation awareness in companies, develop innovation cultures on an interactive platform, gain innovation competencies, and reward all efforts. The program, based on the Innovation Management Assessment methodology implemented in 17 countries in Europe and conducted by IMP³rove, helps develop innovation reports for companies in Turkey, identifying innovation leaders each year.

InovaLİG aims to foster innovation awareness in both large-scale and SME companies in Turkey. Companies that complete the Innovation Management Assessment in five main categories (Innovation Strategy, Innovation Organization and Culture, Innovation Cycle, Innovation Resources, Innovation Results) earn the right to compete in InovaLİG.

As part of the Turkey Green Industry Project, coordinated by the Ministry of Industry and Technology with the support of the World Bank, the Türkiye Exporters Assembly, as a solution partner under the TÜBİTAK 1831 Green Innovation Technology Mentorship Call, will provide the mentorship services needed by SMEs through the TİM Green Innovation Technology Mentorship Program. The program aims to design, implement, and ensure the traceability of corporate sustainability systems suitable for institutions' goals, structures, and needs.

During the program, the mentor will visit the company once a week for at least 4 hours at a mutually agreed day and time, working closely with a manager or project leader who is familiar with the company's green transformation efforts.

The GOAL project, funded by the EU Commission under the IPA III Program, is designed to enhance TİM's operational and institutional capacity to support the adaptation of exporting companies to EU Green Deal Regulations. The project aims to catalyze the green and digital transformation ecosystem by organizing a Green Matching event, where companies will receive technical briefings on GREENTİM Digital Mentorship software developed under the project. The event will also bring together startups offering solutions to companies after carbon footprint measurements and institutions and organizations providing incentives.

As part of the InnovationGUIDE project, funded by the EU Commission under the Horizon Europe Program, a pilot hackathon event will be held to increase innovation capacity in rural and less populated areas, implement new solutions, overcome natural challenges, and create sustainable business areas. The hackathon event aims to strengthen and expand cooperation within the innovation ecosystem, attract deep technology talent to rural areas, and lay the foundation for a rural acceleration program. The pilot hackathon is designed around problem identification, event development methodology, attracting the interest of future entrepreneurs, and creating new methodologies for participation, with plans to organize it internationally in the coming years.

Two TIW Common Mind Workshops were organized in January and July 2024 as part of Türkiye Innovation Week to ensure the continuity of activities supporting innovation, expand the scope of the event, and advance the work on a benefit-focused platform for the entire ecosystem. The workshops, attended by 123 representatives from 66 different institutions, included roundtable group discussions on targeted benefits and collaborations to strengthen the innovation ecosystem. The evaluations and recommendations that emerged were shared with participants by the workshop spokespersons and reported after mutual evaluations. The ideas, activities, and projects aimed at achieving significant growth in Turkey's innovation ecosystem will continue to be developed and implemented through collective wisdom.
